Breakdance anyone?

A perfect place to start is without doubt with the 1985 Swatch GO001 Breakdance. This bright Orange Watch has an important part to play in Swatches colourful turn of direction in '85. A common misconception was that this was designed by New York artist Keith Haring but infact it was designed by Scmidt/Muller who took inspiration from a poster designed by Keith for a New York Breakdancing competition.

Swatch produced only 9999 of these Watches and they were sold in the United States only. This must have had an important part in the fact that a short while later Keith Haring produced his now very famous four models which we will talk about at a later date.

Fortunately the example above is in very nice condition but as hardened Swatch collectors know, for some strange reason the early 80's 'Orange' coloured cases are prone to becoming very brittle. The battery cover generally does more bad than good on this model and you will find on a large majority that the battery lips deteriorate easily.

With the demand for untouched and flawlessly perfect examples being sky high by world-wide collectors, the emphasis is more on the condition than functionality so look after them if you have one. Definately one of my all time favourites and just for the hardened collectors ......heres a nice variant to drool over.
